Random Country Generator

Click to spin · Ctrl + ↵ · DragTap or flick to spin

Spin the wheel and the random country generator lands on a country. It starts with 32 well-known countries from every continent, and you can swap in any list you like.

Ideas for the country wheel

  • Geography quiz. Spin a country and ask for its capital, its flag colours or its neighbours.
  • Travel inspiration. Spin for your next holiday — or at least your next travel documentary.
  • Themed dinner. Cook a dish from whichever country the wheel chooses; it makes a fun weekly tradition.
  • School projects. Give each student a country to research and present.
  • Language games. Say hello or thank you in a language of the country.
  • Sweepstakes. Spin a national team to cheer for during a tournament.

Make your own list

The starting list mixes 32 countries from around the world. To focus on a region, press Clear and paste your own countries, one per line — the countries of Europe, the teams in a tournament or the places you have already visited. Every line becomes a sector straight away.

Sort puts the list in alphabetical order and Shuffle mixes it on the wheel. Give the wheel a title and press Share: the link carries your list and settings, so your class or your friends open exactly the same wheel.

Rounds without repeats

For a quiz with several rounds, turn on “Remove winner after spin”. Every country drawn leaves the wheel, so each one comes up once, and the Results tab keeps the countries already played. For a sweepstake, open Advanced and hide the teams that are knocked out instead of deleting them.

Mystery hides the names while the wheel turns — a nice touch for a geography quiz, where players can shout out a guess before the needle stops.

Fair spins

Each country has the same chance unless you set weights. The result is chosen by your browser’s cryptographic random generator before the animation starts, and the wheel is then steered to land on it. A strong flick looks great, but it never changes the outcome.

FAQ

Questions

Which countries are on the wheel?
It starts with 32 well-known countries from every continent, from Argentina to Vietnam. Add or delete lines in Entries to change the list.
Can I spin only one continent?
Yes. Clear the list and paste the countries of one continent, one per line. Rename the wheel, for example Europe, and press Share to keep it as a link.
How do I avoid getting the same country twice?
Turn on “Remove winner after spin” in Settings. Each country leaves the wheel after it is drawn.
Is every country equally likely?
Yes, unless you change the weights in Advanced. The result is drawn by your browser's cryptographic random generator before the spin starts.
