Not sure what to draw? Spin the wheel or press Instant pick for a ready-made idea — a fox reading a book, a castle made of candy, a lighthouse in a storm. Pick a theme, or add a challenge to make it harder.

How to use the drawing ideas generator

  1. Pick a theme with the chips: Mixed, Easy, Animals, Fantasy, Food or Places.
  2. Spin the wheel, or press Instant pick to get one idea — or five, for a week of sketches.
  3. Draw it. For an extra twist, switch to Challenges and spin again: “only three colors”, “finish in 5 minutes”, “never lift the pen”.

Every idea is a small scene with a subject and a detail — not just “a cat” but “a cat wearing a crown” — so you know what to draw the moment it lands.

Ideas for every level

  • Easy is for kids, beginners and quick warm-ups: simple shapes such as a cupcake, a paper boat or a smiling sun.
  • Animals and Food are good practice for texture, fur and shiny surfaces.
  • Fantasy gives you dragons, potion shops and floating islands when you want to invent.
  • Places trains perspective and composition, from a busy market to a quiet beach at dawn.

Beat art block

Blank pages are hard because there are too many choices. A random prompt takes the choice away and gives you a starting point, which is often all you need. Some ways to use it:

  • Daily sketch habit: one spin a day, fifteen minutes, no erasing.
  • Draw-off with friends: everyone draws the same prompt, then compare.
  • Classroom art warm-up: spin on the projector and give the class ten minutes.
  • Combine two: pick two ideas and put them in one picture — an octopus chef in a neon city.

Your own prompt wheel

Paste your own ideas into Entries — characters from your story, objects you want to practise, prompts from an art challenge — and the wheel draws from them. Give the ideas you want more often a higher weight in Advanced, and Share sends the whole list to friends as a link. For single words to sketch, try the Pictionary list in the random word generator.

FAQ

Questions

What should I draw when I have no ideas?
Spin the wheel and take the first idea that lands. Each prompt is a small scene, such as a fox reading a book, so you can start sketching right away instead of choosing.
Are there easy drawing ideas for kids and beginners?
Yes. The Easy list has simple subjects built from basic shapes — a cupcake, a paper boat, a happy cloud — and the Animals list works well for children too.
Can I get several drawing ideas at once?
Set How many and press Instant pick. With No repeats ticked you get different ideas, for example seven prompts for a week of daily sketches.
What are the Challenges?
Twists you can add to any idea: draw with your other hand, use only three colors, finish in five minutes. Spin a drawing idea first, then switch to Challenges and spin again.
