TickWheel

Random Color Generator

Click to spin · Ctrl + ↵ · DragTap or flick to spin

Spin a wheel of real colors and let chance choose one. This random color generator starts with the 12-hue artist's color wheel, switches to rainbow, basic, Twister or pastel sets in a click and rolls fresh random HEX colors on demand.

Spin a color

The wheel opens with the 12 hues artists use: the primary colors red, yellow and blue, the secondary colors orange, green and violet, and the six tertiary colors between them, from red-orange to red-violet. Every sector is painted in its own color, so this color picker wheel looks just like the chart on a classroom wall. Click the hub, press Ctrl + Enter or flick the wheel, and the needle settles on one hue.

Color sets in one click

The quick sets above the list replace the wheel instantly:

  • Color wheel — the 12 hues;
  • Rainbow — red to violet, with indigo;
  • Basic colors — eleven everyday colors, black and white included;
  • Twister — red, blue, yellow and green for the classic mat game;
  • Primary colors — red, yellow and blue;
  • Pastels — soft tones for crafts and party themes.

Each switch can be undone from the notification.

Random HEX colors for design

Need inspiration rather than names? Press Random colors and the wheel fills with 12 fresh colors labelled by their HEX codes, spread around the hue circle so neighbours never look alike. Spin to pick one, or copy the codes you like from Entries. It is a quick way to break a creative block, choose an accent for a slide or start a palette.

Ideas for the color wheel spinner

  • Art class: paint or draw using only the color the wheel picks.
  • Drawing challenges: spin twice for a main color and an accent.
  • Games: Twister without the cardboard spinner, color scavenger hunts, “find something this color” for little ones.
  • Everyday choices: the next T-shirt, nail polish or balloon color.

Every spin uses your browser’s cryptographic random generator, so each color has the same chance unless you change its weight in Advanced.

FAQ

Questions

How do I pick a random color?
Spin the wheel. Every sector is painted in the color it names, and the result window shows the winning color with its swatch.
Can I get random HEX color codes?
Press Random colors. The wheel fills with 12 new colors labelled with their HEX codes, so the winner is a ready-to-use code such as #3A7BD5.
Which colors are on the color wheel?
The 12 hues of the artist's color wheel: the primary colors red, yellow and blue, the secondary colors orange, green and violet, and the six tertiary colors between them.
Can I add my own colors?
Yes. Type a name on a new line in Entries, then switch to Advanced and pick its color. You can also hide colors you do not want this round.
